Star Party with Mike Lynch – October 2

Mike Lynch and his giant telescopes

Thursday, October 2, 2025
Program begins 6:45 p.m.
Stargazing until 9:00 p.m.
Metro State Library Community Labyrinth

FREE and open to the community!

Make the stars your old friends as we watch the great celestial show in the skies over Saint Paul! Get to know constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse, and many more. Great stories about how some of these constellations found their way to the heavens will also be told. We’ll have giant telescopes aimed at the moon, Saturn, star clusters, and galaxies. New video telescopes will display live images of distant celestial treasures in amazing color!

Mike Lynch is a retired WCCO meteorologist and has been hosting star parties and teaching astronomy classes for over 50 years. He also writes a weekly stargazing column for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and is the author of the book “Stars, a Month-by-Month Tour of the Constellations.” Copies of his book will be available for purchase along with select celestial photos taken by Mike, and super cool glow-in-the-dark star shirts.

This FREE, family-friendly event is cosponsored by Saint Paul Public Library and Metro State University. Dress for the weather please! Feel free to bring lawn chairs to make yourself comfy. Even if it’s cloudy you’ll learn a lot and have a great time!
